Blog Tour: Unravled by Jen Frederick

Twenty-five-year-old Sgt. Gray Phillips is at a crossroads in his life: stay in the Marine Corps or get out and learn to be a civilian? He’s got forty-five days of leave to make up his mind but the people in his life aren’t making the decision any easier. His dad wants him to get out; his grandfather wants him to stay in. And his growing feelings for Sam Anderson are wreaking havoc with his heart…and his mind. He believes relationships get ruined when a Marine goes on deployment. So now he’s got an even harder decision to make: take a chance on Sam or leave love behind and give his all to the Marines.

Twenty-two year old Samantha Anderson lost her husband to an IED in Afghanistan just two months after their vows. Two years later, Sam is full of regrets—that she didn’t move with her husband to Alaska; that she allowed her friends to drift away; that she hasn’t taken many chances in life. Now, she’s met Gray and taking a risk on this Marine could be her one opportunity to feel alive and in love again. But how can she risk her heart on another military man who could share the same tragic fate as her husband?

This is the third book in the Woodlands series  but can be read as a standalone because each book features a different couple.

Sam is a 22 year old Army widow. She married her high school sweetheart two months before he died in Afghanistan from an IED. Will has been gone for two years now and she has not been able to move on. His things are all over her condo as if he were going to walk in the door. She is filled with guilt that she didn't move to Alaska will Will while he was in pararescue training, she lost touch with her friends, and she closed herself off to everyone around her. She has basically given up on being happy because all of her hopes and dreams were wrapped up in Will.

Will was still taking up a lot of space in my mind and my condo. And it was time to let him go. All of those future plans I had made with Will weren't ever going to come true. Not the two kids we talked about having or the dogs. Not the places we were going to see or the trips we were going to take. None of those things were going to happen now... Silent, hot tears started rolling down my face but they weren't really tears of sadness. But they were tears nonetheless of all the things that I'd felt for Will. I was sorry to let him go, but it was time. - Sam

Gray is a Marine. His father and grandfather were both career Marines and all he can remember wanting to do was be a Marine. It is who he is. When he is faced with the decision to re-enlist after serving for eight years, for the first time in his life, he is not sure what he wants to do. After receiving a very rare opportunity to take 45 days leave, he heads to where two of his ex-Marine friends live. Those two friends just happen to be Noah & Bo (from books one & two) and finds them both blissfully in love. But Gray didn't trust women anymore. Not after catching the women he loved with another man when he came home early to surprise her. So, he closed his heart off and limits himself to friends with benefits because he doesn't ever want to be that vulnerable again.

The sex in this book is seriously hot. I don't remember the first two books being that hot. Wow like smoking. I loved the dirty talk! I which I could put a bit in the review but I would need to put an XXX warning at the top!

Sam & Gray know going in that this was just temporary. Sam was finding herself again and Gray was trying to figure out what he wanted to do with his life. They only has 45 days, but that was all it took for them to fall in love and then it was anything but temporary.

I stared into her green eyes and not once did she look like she was anywhere but right here with me. I saw my reflection there. Her heartbeat was made wild by my kisses. The ring on her finger was gone and her condo was empty of most everything but yarn. It was a place I felt like I could be comfortable in. And temporary was the farthest thing from my mind. - Gray

Loved it!!

5 Stars!!!!!!
