Blog Tour: The Sordid Promise by Courtney Lane

SYNOPSIS:

"The monsters you really should be afraid of, don't need to hide in plain sight. The truly dangerous ones…have no need to hide."

When physical pain allows you to escape your reality; what do you do when the pain is no longer strong enough to quiet the emotional ache?

Diouana “Nikki” returned to her hometown six months ago to tend to her sick mother. She thought she’d left her “baggage” behind her on the opposite coast, only to find that it never left her side. Asher self-destructive thoughts begin to consume her, her mother -- realizing Nikki’s torment -- pushes Nikki to complete her last wishes.

Eric Brenton, Nikki’s new neighbor, lives in a dark, chaotic world that is easily hidden behind his model good looks and cocky demeanor. Unapologetic about his dirtier intentions, he sets his sights on Nikki with an offer to help her. But his help comes with very unorthodox conditions and a huge price.

And Eric...comes with an extensive black box warning label.

Warning: Contains graphic language, frequent graphic sex, and dark themes.

Becky says…

4 *Holy Hell* Stars

Let me just start by saying this book is right up my alley! I love dark books and this one did not disappoint. If you are looking for a fairy tale romance that includes a Prince Charming, you have stumbled across the wrong book. I loved it and will read it a few more times I'm sure.

Nikki was a different kind of character. She isn't a strong willed heroine. Actually she has many mental issues and takes prescription medicines to curb her suicidal thoughts. She returns home to take care of her mother who has cancer. She is a very complex character and I really enjoyed trying to figure her out up until the end of the story.

Eric is her mother's next door neighbor and although he was so complex and nothing about him make sense until it all comes together at the end of the book, I loved him! I love the dark guys who have many secrets! My dirty little crushes I guess.. He is so gorgeous on the outside but is a hidden darkness on the inside. He refuses to answer any of Nikki's questions. He just occupies her mind with sex and endless orgasms! There isn't much I can say about The Sordid Promise without giving away much of the story. I have already recommended this book to a few friends and I can't wait to see what they have to say about it! Courtney Lane did an amazing job of capturing the darkness and bringing it to light!

Review of Walk Into Me by Jill Prand

I know I will never get over her. Watching her walk away with him ripped my heart out and left it
bleeding on the floor. But I can’t hide anymore. I have to face my life without her. ~ Brad

Brad has been in love with Lisa for as long as he can remember. One night years ago they took each other’s virginity but while it was the best night of Brad’s life, for Lisa it was a way to forget about Bobby. Or was it?
Brad re-emerges right when Lisa needs him most. Only Brad knows everything about her and when Lisa’s insecurities come to the surface the shoulder Lisa needs is Brad’s. Now Brad has to decide if he has it in him to trust his heart.

April says…

Walk Into Me is written from Brad and Lisa's POV.  And I am all for Team Brad and Lisa.  Sorry Team Bobby fans! I wanted to scream multiple times at Lisa to stop jerking Brad around like a giant yo-yo, or using him to get over Bobby yet again.  And then go run to Brad and say "Ya big dummy, you are too good for her! Find someone worthy of your heart!"

Bobby is head over heals in love with Lisa.  He has been since he first laid eyes on her when they were kids.  He is the best friend/lover a woman could ever want in their life.  And Bobby, he is the bad boy that all the women end up wanting and getting.  Lisa, well, I am still unsure of her still after two books.  She has pushed and pulled away so many times it is frustrating.  I understand her pain at being walked away from in her past, and again in her future by Bobby.  But if a guy continuously does it....Walk away from him, Right?? Walk into the one's arms that has been the one constant in your life, like Brad!!

Who will Lisa end up with? What happened to Bobby really? And why did he want Brad to be the one to give those letters? What is this spell and connection that Bobby and Lisa have between them?

Yes, there are hot scenes in there that will make you want to fan yourself a few times.  ;) But the ultimate read is the love and heartfelt connections that the characters have between them.

Jill is an AMAZING story teller, with her amazing background of the characters, their heartfelt nature for one another and amazing friendships.  Jill, I will need a few boxes of Kleenex's with the third book.  I know I used at least one between the first two books.  I cannot wait for book three.  This is a definite five star read!!

Dreamcast:

BRAD

Lisa

Bobby

Expected Release: April 6th

Delaney Beaumont is more likely to flip you the bird than she is to say hello. A workaholic during the week as a free-lance graphic designer, by weekend she's a partying alcoholic. Laney's MO is always the same: party and drink until she blacks out. Every weekend she wakes up in bed with a strange man and no memory of how she wound up there. But, she doesn't care. Because when she leaves his apartment, she'll never see him again. It's the way she's gone about it for years and it suits her needs just fine.

That is...until the day she wakes up in Jackson Turner's bed.

Jackson Turner is a tattoo artist and owner of four shops in the Colorado area. He wanted Delaney from the moment he set eyes on her. Their night together is nothing short of crazy, and Jackson knows that he has to have Laney in his life for good. Convincing her, while dealing with the consequences of their night together, will be easier said than done.

If you love someone set them free. Then get ready with a bottle of Jack.

Blog Tour: Only the Good Die Young by K.K. Hendin

The first year of college is supposed to be about parties, parties, and getting the hell out of Texas. Instead, Milcah Daniels is spending her eighteenth year in and out of Houston's hospitals. Her hair is falling out, they’ve cut off her boobs, and if she makes it to nineteen, she’ll consider it a personal miracle.
Breast cancer really has a way of messing with a girl’s social calendar.
When Milcah’s temporarily discharged from the hospital, she’s determined to get a tattoo for every medical procedure she’s had. Her quest leads her to Skin Stories, a new tattoo parlor a block from her apartment. And to it’s infuriatingly sexy artist, Callum Scott.
Callum is everything Milcah wants, and everything she shouldn’t have now. A new relationship when the official prognosis is one to five years is a terrible idea. But Callum doesn’t know about the breast cancer, and Milcah’s not running to tell him.
But when the doctor says things are actually looking positive, her entire life turns upside down. How is she supposed to start living again when she’s finally learned to accept her death?

Danielle says

After reading the Blurb for this Book, I was expecting a real tear-jerker & was pleasantly surprised!
Don't get me wrong, it is one of the most emotional Books I have ever read!
When we first meet Milcah, she has accepted that she is dying from Breast Cancer at the age of 18!
The Author did a excellent job of expressing Milcah's emotions throughout the Book, e.g. Her Anger, Her Fear & Her Sadness.
Callum is a Tattoo Artist that she meets when she decides to get a Tattoo.
Callum shows Milcah that Life is worth Living, by taking her on Journeys, making her forget that she is dying by showing her a good time.
There were certain parts of the Book that did make me tear up, so I would advise anyone who reads it to have a box of Tissues handy!
This is one of those Books that makes you more understanding of what a Person who has Cancer has to deal with everyday.
If you don't like Tear-Jerker Books, THIS is not the Book for you!!
It made me laugh, it made me cry but overall, it gave me a better understanding of how a Person with Cancer feels every single Day!!
I gave it 4 & a Half Stars!

Becky says

4 *Highly Emotional* Stars

First let me start by saying, I have a few breast cancer survivors in my family and I think this is an accurate description of what life is like when you get it and then after, when against all odds, you survive. Some have said Only The Good Die Young is a depressing story but I say it's life. Raw and beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time.

Milcah was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy.  While she was discharged from the hospital she goes to a tattoo parlor called Skin Stories and decides to let the tattoos she wants speak for her story. She plans to get one for each procedure she has had done. She has built up walls using sarcasm and a sharp whit attitude. She is a tough character at only 18 years old and I loved that about her. She is coping in the only way she knows how. Sure there were sometimes in the story where I wanted to smack her and tell her to snap out of it but as I read I tried to put myself in her shoes and I would probably have the same attitude. She thinks by keeping her cancer and thoughts to herself, she is protecting those around her. Then she meets him.

Callum is on my list of sexy book boyfriends. Who wouldn't swoon over a charming but HOT tattoo artist!?! He had a way with connecting with Milcah that makes him stand above the rest. He stopped being Mr. Nice Guy part way through the book and held nothing back when it came to her. (Aggression only made him hotter lol) I felt his genuine personality pour from the pages as we got deeper in there story.

"Everyone's dying Milcah. Some people are just dying sooner than others" *SIGH*

She realizes she needs him so indescribably bad but doesn't know how to live again after being dead on the inside for so long.

This story was so much more than YA/NA. There isn't a heat factor so if that's what you are looking for you may wanna pass. Only The Good Die Young is a vulnerable, raw emotion filled, gut wrenching, heart breaking and make you smile all at the same time kind of book. I was pulled so deep into Milcah story that I felt every emotion it seems she felt. Happy, Sad, Flirty, Angry, Relief and Depression. I recommend this book highly to anyone looking to get away and step into someone else's reality. You won't regret it ♡

KK Hendin Bio:
KK Hendin's real life ambition is to become a pink fluffy unicorn who dances with rainbows. But the schooling for that is all sorts of complicated, so until that gets sorted out, she'll just write. Preferably things with angst and love. And things that require chocolate. She’s the author of the NA contemporaries HEART BREATHS and ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG.

She spends way too much time on Twitter, where she can be found at @kkhendin, and rambles on occasion over at www.kkhendinwrites.blogspot.com.
