Blog Tour: Exposing Alix by Inara Scott

Under the name Alix Z, Daisy Zahn was once a wildly successful director of romantic, erotic movies that celebrated love and sex in equal measure. But when her pursuit of love left her with nothing but heartache, Daisy left Hollywood behind for a small town in Oregon. At least, she thought she’d left it behind. Until Ryker Valentine showed up at her door with an offer she couldn’t refuse…

Bad boy actor-director Ryker wants nothing to do with love or romance but he does want to win an Oscar. So when critics complain his love scenes are too cold, he seeks out the mysterious Alix Z to add her sexy, art house spin to his latest film. Ryker quickly finds himself fascinated by Alix’s combination of innocence and unrestrained sensuality, and determined to show her that sex doesn’t have to be cluttered with love.

If only he can keep his own heart out of the shot…

Becky says…

I didn't LOVE this book but I far from HATED it. Therfore I'm in the sitting slightly above the median at 3.5 stars...

Overall I felt this story was kind of predictable. Alix (Daisy Zahn) was an in tune Romance and Erotic movie director who quit after having her heart broken. She left LA (predictable location and situation) and moved to Oregon. Feeling like she couldn't direct those types of movies without her heartache tainting them, she had thought she pulled herself out of the directing buisness. Or at least that was her intentions. Ryker was also a director but couldn't quite nail the Romantic feel in his movies. He sets off to Oregon to enlist the talents if Alix Z to help him get the romance scenes right so he may finally win an Oscar and the critics who hated his love scenes.

Predictable enough, she was reluctant to help him because he had a bad boy image and she wanted nothing more then to be around that. She started off as a strong character but seemed to lose her backbone shortly into the first little bit of the book. Alix actually annoyed me more often then not but thats because I prefer a stronger heroine. However, I love love love bad boys so Rykers character was instantly a hit for me. Lol

This book wasn't rushed at all. Actually the beginning was very slow paced compared to most of the books I normally read but did pick up a lil before I hit the half way mark. I wasn't turned off completely by Exposing Alix so this will not be my last Inara Scott book.

I wrote my first book when I was in high school--a romance called "A Wild and Stormy Passion," which featured swordplay, kidnapping, a pirate heroine, and lots of naughty bits (that came entirely from my adolescent imagination!). Since then, I've written young adult novels and adult romances of the category, contemporary, and fantasy varieties. My books are romantic, sensual, and unconventional.

I am a dabbler and an emotional sponge. I can't read scary books or anything with an unhappy ending. I reserve the right to enjoy country music, puppies, true love, and happily ever after.

If you're perusing my Goodreads shelves, you should know I only review books I want to share the word about. If you ask me, life's too short to read something you don't enjoy.
