Synopsis:
Pain.
Hurt.
Regret.

All of these are a result from broken promises.

Love.
Joy.
Happiness.

All of these are a result from finding someone’s way.

Love has two paths, happiness and heartbreak. Sometimes those paths intertwine. Sometimes we choose the wrong path. And sometimes we’re given the second chance to pick the right path.

Which path will Walker and Taylor go down? Only time will tell…

SARAH'S 5 STAR REVIEW:

Broken Promises is the third book in Kelly Elliott's Broken series. This book focuses on Liza and Walker who are the children of the main characters of the first two books. This book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the other two books first.

Liza and Walker have grown up together their entire lives. They have always had intense chemistry between them but have never moved forward with their feelings. As they both prepare to leave for college they make a promise that they will wait for each other so they can have a future together.

"Promise me Something...Wait for me, Liza."
"I promise, Walker, I'll wait for you."

As they spend more time apart they both decide to move on with their lives and start relationships with new people. They both pretend to be happy in their new relationships but deep down they both are miserable. A summer spent back at the family ranch brings their feelings for one another back to the surface and they both struggle with those feelings. They have both made promises to other people which holds them back from getting close to each other. The more time they spend together they realize that they are destined to be together. What happens when their current loves come back into the picture at the end of the summer? Will Walker and Liza decide to stay in their current relationships or will they realize they are meant to be together?

"Everything happens for a reason, son. Every road you travel down is because of a decision you made. Some decisions are good, some are bad. Learn from each one. But don't look back in regret. Always look forward in anticipation of what could still be." (Layton)

I loved the deep connection between Walker and Liza. This book took me on quite an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every minute of it. It was nice to be able to catch up with Layton and Whitley and Reed and Courtney. Walker's sister Ava and Liza's brother Jase added lots of depth to the story and I hope to read about them in a future book.

EXCERPT:

I leaned my face in closer to Liza and took in a deep breath. She smelled like heaven. As we danced neither of us spoke a word. The song ended and Liza pulled slightly back. She looked into my eyes and I wasn’t sure what to do next. My heart was telling me to do one thing, but my head was telling me to walk away. Liza’s eyes moved to my lips before she quickly looked back into my eyes. I slowly began to lean over. As I got closer Liza licked her lips in anticipation of our kiss.

“Walker,” she whispered.
